Those clowns are so scared right now that they are even limiting who can actually read e-news. Ha ha!!! I love every second of it. Can't wait till the FBI catches up with those guys. Normally I don't wish anything bad upon people, but those three are just so smug and arrogant and act like saints that it's about time people see what they really are.

Okay here it is....

Yale students name man who allegedly defamed them
By JOHN CHRISTOFFERSEN

Associated Press Writer

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Two female students at Yale Law School who say anonymous, defamatory comments were made about them on the Internet identified one of the defendants in their federal lawsuit for the first time Wednesday.

The women filed new documents in U.S. District Court naming Mathew C. Ryan of Austin, Texas.

Through subpoenas to Internet service providers, the women have learned the real identities of several other defendants, but are trying to resolve their claims against those people before deciding whether to name them, according to court papers.

The move threatens to expose law students and renews debate about whether anonymous Internet scribes should be outed — and held legally responsible — for malicious online postings.

The case is not unprecedented, but it is a reminder that anonymous postings on the freewheeling Internet can be traced, legal experts say.

"A lot of people don't really think about that," said Daniel Solove, a professor at George Washington University Law School. "I do think it's going to have an effect on what people say. It's one of the most prominent cases of its type."

The women's lawsuit, filed last year, charges that they were defamed by repeated postings they deemed sexually harassing and threatening.

The postings were made to AutoAdmit, an Internet discussion board about colleges and law schools that draws 800,000 to 1 million visitors per month, according to court papers.

The women say Ryan made sexually charged slurs about them on the Web, including a false claim that one of the women had a sexually transmitted disease. The lawsuit also alleges that Ryan encouraged further attacks on the other woman and used anti-Semitic language.

A telephone message and e-mail seeking comment were left for Ryan Wednesday.

Ryan attended the University of Texas, according to Mark Lemley, attorney for the Yale students. Most of the other defendants are law students, he said.

Other posts by other defendants included remarks about one plaintiff's breasts and a claim that women with the same first names "should be raped." Some postings discussed the women's family backgrounds and supposed sexual exploits while invoking racially and sexually charged slurs.

Some people who posted the Web items threatened to rape one of the women, claimed she got a poor score on the law school test to harm her future job prospects and attempted to start rumors that one of the women had died or committed suicide, according to the lawsuit.

The anonymous posters also started a Web site devoted to "rating" female law students from around the country. Some participants in the contest sent photos of one of the women without her permission, according to the lawsuit.

The judge overseeing the women's lawsuit has agreed to let them proceed under pseudonyms because of their fears of further harassment. No trial date has been set.

The lawsuit sparked a countersuit from a University of Pennsylvania law graduate who lost a lucrative job offer after he was linked to Web sites that crudely discussed the female law students.

Anthony Ciolli's libel lawsuit charges that the Yale students sued him although they knew he did not control the message boards at either AutoAdmit.com, where he was an editor, or at a now-defunct site that ranked the looks of top women law students.

The women dropped Ciolli as a defendant in November, leaving numerous alleged anonymous posters as defendants.

In sworn affidavits, the women say the stress caused their work to suffer at school and on the job and one took a leave of absence from school. Their classmates and job supervisors were aware of the salacious postings, they said.

The person who allegedly wrote the rape comment fought a subpoena to have his Internet provider disclose his identity. In a motion filed under his online name, "John Doe 21," he argued that the rape remark did not specifically harm or threaten either woman since millions of women share their first names.

He calls the online postings "unsavory but legally innocuous" — and argues that his free-speech rights outweigh the women's right to seek redress.

"Few courts have considered this question, but it is becoming a crucial one, particularly in light of the increasing number of cases where those who have been criticized on the Internet seek to use the machinery of the courts to unmask, intimidate and silence their online critics," he wrote earlier this year.

But a judge ruled in June that the women had shown enough evidence to support a libel case.

"When is all this bullshit gonna stop I mean if there is dirt on Joe or school board members WHY ARENT YOU DOING something about it??"

Actually, there is something that's going to be done about it. The FBI already has the information from what I understand.

Anonymous said...

You have a weak point. These people that E-News keeps slamming are elected or former politicians. Which means there fair game. Now, the one to be concerned is Earn Barnett and the Political Ring. For allowing comments on there blogs. While anonymous people comment on non elected officials. That being said the lawsuits should be on these two blogs and not E-News. I really had no idea some of these people were capable of doing such things until E-News came alone. The joke is on us the taxpayers for falling for all of these peoples disguises.

Because we wouldnt have a school board, city, county, or judicial system.. Theyre all RATS..its a shame but true..there just rats from different clans thats why they dont get along..They did once when it was all one clan but u see the clan became to large and the cheese was divided too many ways..so the formation of other clans became..And that is what we have now..thats why local politics sucks..recycled candidates and politicians TODOS MAMAN!!

Ha ha... Edinburg News is once again caught in their web of lies. Well, perhaps not completely a lie, but shows how little they understand about what's going on. They take one piece of information and run with it like idiots. I saw their latest post yesterday and called a couple of reputable board members who actually know whats going on. When ECISD went out for their bond election last year, they (the majority of the board who are actually in this for the children) told the public that they would be eligible for IFA funding for about $58,000,000.00 from the state. Well, as it turns out, ECISD is actually GUARANTEED IFA funding of a little over $58,000,000.00 and not the $7,000,000.00 that E-News is talking about. That $7,000,000.00 is the INITIAL payment to the district, NOT THE TOTAL payment. What idiots. That's what they get from taking direction from Robert, Jaime and Greg who by the way were against the bond election. So the news of ECISD recieving more IFA funding than expected was great news for everyone in the district and the taxpayers except for Jaime, Greg and Robert cause this hurts their candidates chances in November. You see, they can't stand that the district is in the best shape it's been in decades and the compadre deals are out the window. They need their people to come in so their friends and family can go back to being promoted ahead of people who actually work hard and earn their promotions. By the way, Carlos Ramos against Ciro Trevino? Is that really the best they could do? That guy knows absolutely nothing about nothing. By the way Carlos, I know about the $15,000.00 campaign "donation" they gave you to run against Ciro. I can also tell you that as of yesterday afternoon, the FBI knows about that "contribution" as well, so if you don't put that on your campaign finance report, expect a little visit from the FBI. Also, to you gentelmen who gave him the $15,000.00 to run, the FBI knows about you too. You guys are so stupid, think about how many people do you offered this deal to before Carlos took it. Did you not think people would talk? Dumbasses.

john said...

so whats the deal with the baseball tickets

Anonymous said...

I understand the $15k was offered to several people.........Carlos took the bait.

Anonymous said...

It is great news that ECISD got $7 million from the state. But nothing is guaranteed from the folks in Austin. Every two years, every state agency and fund has to pass mustard and receive money again. So, the truth is that ECISD got $7 million this time around (that's no small amount, either), but they aren't guaranteed to get anymore unless the legislature puts money back into whatever pot of money this first round of cash came from.

One side will say the $7 million is proof that the state will eventually pay its share of the $112 million bond issue, and the state has obligated itself to keep its promises. Most important, kids who were being taught in portable buildings deserved better than that.

The other side will say that the supporters of the bond issue made people believe ECISD would get the whole enchilada in one lump payment, which obviously did not happen, to many people's disappointment, and the only guarantees in life are death and taxes.

Both sides will be right.

Anonymous said...

Actually, no. Only one side is right. Edinburg is GUARANTEED that money, but let E-News spread their lies anyway. It bothers them so much that the school district is in the best shape it's been in decades. By the way, you can never please the idiots at E-News. They claim that Carmen lies, lies and lies, but we all see the only one who lies is E-News. Here is a post from an earlier post:

"Look to your far right the headline is how are we going to pay back the $111 Million dollars. Carmen and co are going to approve the new tax rate from $1.11 a year ago to $1.26 for the 2008-09 school year. It says that with state support our tax rate would go up only 7 cents. Without state support our tax rate would go up 16 cents.

Looks like Carmen and co got wind that the state is not going to give us any money. And that is why they want to approve the new tax rate of $1.26. You LIED to get your bond election passed. We are getting zero monies from the state. And we the taxpayers are the ones that will suffer. Especially, at a time when the economy is not doing to well. Seventy five percent of all americans think we are in a recession."

Now that the district got exactly what they told the taxpayers they were going to get, E-News is still bitching:

"Seems like we have a new tax rate! From $1.11 a year ago to $1.18 now! People need to be aware of what is going on with the ECISD dist. That is why starting in Sept. You are going to see ads not only in the Edinburg Review but also in The Monitor. It's time for all taxpayers to know what is really going on."

People, try understanding what's really going on before you go out and open your mouth. I love how they wanted everyone to go to the board meeting and complain last night and nobody showed up for them. Looks like nobody wants to be associated with the lies and filth of edinburg news. Get used to it, Gilbert and Carlos are toast.

By the way, again, do your research. Carmen hasn't worked for that textbook company for years now. Even if she still did, she has not ownership in the business. Want to dig up something, dig up how Gilbert Enriquez got a construction contract with the school board this week. Funny thing is, they claim that Gilbert Enriquez does not own Enriquez construction, he is merely an employee. Wow, when did this happen? It's called RATS. Those guys couldn't pass a bond election when they had the majority cause nobody trusted them with the money and now that people trusted the majority enough with bond money, these RATS want to get in so they could get their cut of the $110,000,000.00. It already started. I heard these guys went to an astros baseball game with tickets that one of them requested. What's next from these guys. I also heard that Carlos took the $15,000 that those guys were offering to run against Ciro.

Gilbert Enriquez running for school board?

This guy hasn't even finished the New City Hall and he wants to be a school board member because supposedly to use his experience to oversee the $110 million bond? AHA, yeah right!

And to top it off, Enriquez wants to get into the Pizza restaurant business..........sounds more like a Pizzeria to me!

Anonymous said...

Why is it that E-News can't get it through their thick skulls that Carmen Gonzalez hasn't worked for a textbook company for a few years now? It's not really hard to understand, but I guess that isn't the point. You just keep on telling the lie and someday, somebody will believe it. I guess Obama said it best. When your candidate doesn't have a good record to run on, all you can do is make the other candidate look like a person to run from. He is 100% right. E-News hasn't mentioned one positive thing about either Gilbert Enriquez or Carlos Ramos. As a matter of fact, E-News has been harping on what a crook Gilbert Enriquez was all year and how he has had change order after change order causing our city hall to be delayed and way over budget. They tried to link Gilbert to Gene Espinoza, but the truth of it all finally comes out. Gilbert is nothing more than another rat from the Ochoa clan. He and Joe have been good friends for a long time and Joe is even supporting him on this election and E-News even after calling him a crook, a rat and saying he was one of the worst board members ever is now backing him. Funny what a little money does for the whores who write at E-News. You pay them enough and they will write lies for you all day long. As for Carlos, he brings absolutely nothing to the table. That guy is as dumb as a post and the only reason he is running is because of the $15,000.00 "campaign donation" that several, lets just call them "coaches" and "informed citizens" gave him to run against Ciro. It's not hard to find out who these people are. They are the same ones who gave similar contributions to Greg, Jaime and Robert which by the way were not reported on their campaign finance reports.

I laugh with all the crap that Edinburg News spews. Negative comments after negatvie comments after negative comments. It didn't work for Eddie Saenz, it didn't work for David Chavana, it didn't work for Lonnie Guerrero, it didn't work for Johnny Rodriguez, it will not work for Gilbert Enriquez and it will not work for Carlos Ramos.

It's funny that if something goes good in the city, it's because of Joe and Gus. If it's bad, it's cause Alma and Gene. Too funny. Either Joe is a leader or Joe isn't a leader, which is it? Overbudget projects? It's Gene and Alma cause Joe doesn't have the majority. New jobs created? Joe gets the credit even though he doesn't have the majority. See a pattern? Edinburg News claims Joe = leadership, but a real leader takes the good and bad together. They don't push blame off on anyone else. Take note from Gilbert Garza, the superintendet of the Edinburg School District who E-News can't stand. Gilbert Garza says, if something bad happens, I'll take the blame for it, if something ok happens, we'll share the comments, you take the good, I'll take the bad. If something great happens, it's cause your hard work and I thank you for what you do. That's leadership. He doesn't need to hide behind a nameless blog like Joe, Gus, Jamie, Greg, Robert, and Gilbert Enriquez... All rats.

Speaking of Gilbert Enriquez who is the candidate for E-News. They think he is the answer for the school board because of his "knowledge" and "construction experience." I'll share with you some direct quotes from E-News about their beloved candidate and his "construction experience."

From E-News

Sunday, May 04, 2008
“Some people find it hard to believe that the new edinburg city hall is over budget some 10 million dollars. Well, nothing is impossible. At the next city council meeting this coming Tuesday. They are to discuss and approve change order # 9 for some 300,000 dollars. As the days continue to go by. The brand new edinburg city hall continues to go more and more over budget.”

Saturday, April 26, 2008
“He went over budget some 10 million dollars on the new edinburg city hall. He went over budget some 4 million dollars on the new police station.”

“The initial contract for the City Hall project was $6.65 million. But after several amendments to the contract, the City Council has added about $1 million in extra work orders. The change orders provide for landscaping, parking lots and building demolition that were not part of the initial package, which covered only the costs of building the new structure”

The $2.25 million in police station upgrades includes new facilities for the municipal court and for community policing operations. The project incorporates the original frame from the old station and is set to be completed by the end of January”

“Imagaine your at a city hall meeting. And up to the podium is Gilbert Enriquez, owner of Enriquez Enterprises. The projects he is doing is to finish up the police station and the brand new city hall being built.

He goes up to the podium and asks for a change order of let say $100,000. Do you think Gene Espinoza should vote for or against the change order? Before you answer that. Then you find out that not only did Enriquez Enterprises get the bids to finish the police station and the new city hall. He gave sub contracts to Rio Grande Steel to purchase all the steel for both projects.

Now, I ask do you think he would vote for the change order? Of course he would. The more money Enriquez gets the more money Rio Grande Steel gets. ....”

Is this the "experience" and "leadership" that E-News is boasting? Is this the best candidate they could find. A candidate who told one local politiquera to name her price. He would pay anything for her to bring in votes for him. Sounds desperate to me. But wonder why he is desperate to get on the board? Could it be cause his company isn't doing well financially? Could it be that he needs to get on the board to secure over $110,000,000.00 construction contracts for his company? That would be a violation wouldn't it? Maybe not cause you see, apparently Gilbert Enriquez claims he doesn't own Gilbert Enriquez Enterprises, he is merely an employee of Gilbert Enriquez Enterprises. So that being said, what would stop him from trying to secure all the contracts for his company? Nothing. Robert Pena was already trying to get Eddie Saenz to be the project manager for the bond election. See any patterns here? And where is E-News in all this? Nowhere to be found on these issues. They are being paid by these guys to have voters focus on a simple family dispute. A wife who is fighing for her marriage. It's not rocket science people. The proof is right in front of you. It's called misdirection.

Anonymous said...

Before I forget, if you think Gilbert Enriquez cant get any contracts with the school district for Gilbert Enriquez Enterprises even if he were elected to the board, think again. It's my understanding the he submitted a bid for the construction of the technology building for the school district. I heard he was awarded the bid this past week. The issue about his candidacy was bought up but Robert and Jaime quickly dismissed the issue assuring everyone that he wasn't the owner of Gilbert Enriquez enterprises, that he was merely an employee and that if he were elected, there wouldn't be any problem. So if there isn't a problem now, there shouldn't be a problem awarding Gilbert Enriquez Enterprises over $110,000,000.00 of building contracts if he were to get on the board. Is it just me or does something about all this stink to you too?

What a bunch of bullshit that Enriquez doesn't own Enriquez Enterprises! He still owns it, his vehicle parks out of the office and still works there.

Looks like Enriquez took a page from Eddie Saenz. Saenz tried to distance himself from when he owned Alpha America Engineering together with Gilbert Gracia. Saenz said that he was not an owner and then the media found out and checked with the Secretary of State's office, guess who's name was on the business certificate? None other than Eddie Saenz.

Bottom line is that Mrs Piggy has alot to account for as the incumbent the burden of proving the district is moving in the right direction lies on her if she can withstand the barrage that will most likely hit her and she wins the community over then she will undoubtly win...but to suggest that she is the annointed one and that the passage of the bond election was her and the three puppets doing is a complete misconception.. The bond passed because "The voters wanted it for their children and grandchildren" it had nothing to do with Carmen and Co. To suggest that is a complete slap in the face of all those bond committe members that worked so hard to achieve passage. Carmen is a good facilitator is she would have kept her nose out of other elections she wouldnt have trouble this time around but she couldnt stay neutral so now she will have to overcome many families that she pissed off by getting involved in races that meant nothing to her. By the way Carmen if I were you send Ed to Dallas for the fall hes a huge liability people know how much he "enjoys" his Wednesdays!

Ha ha... Why does it bother people like you to see that the distrit is in the best shape it's been in decades? It's much, much better than the days when gilbert enriquez was still on the board and the district had 0 to 1 exemplary campuses and the majority of the campuses were simply acceptable by state standards. The community passed the bond because they believed the board would spend the money wisely unlike gilbert enriquez who was the president of the board during one of the past failed bond elections. Why did it fail? Cause one of the projects that gilbert wanted to do with the money was build a state of the art health club for the administration and board with that bond money. Yes, we needed classrooms, yes the schools were barely acceptable, yes teachers were the lowest paid teachers in the valley, but gilbert felt the best way to move the district forward was to build a health club for administrators and the board. Instead, they just renovated the administraion and upgraded the facilities for the board cause in gilberts eyes, that would somehow move the district forward. Gilbert felt you need to take care of the people on top first and then everything else would take care of itself. You may not like Carmen, you may not like the majority of the board, but every step forward that the district has had has come from 4-3 votes. If it were up to the minority, the board could still hire their immediate family members and move less qualified people to high positions around the district to fill political favors. Don't believe me? Who were the football coaches for Edinburg North in the early to mid 90's? Robert Alaniz, Mario Lopez, Anibal Gorena, Ramiro Guerra, Mario Salinas. What happened to all these coaches today who by the way are good friends and strong supporters for Jaime, Greg, Robert and Gilbert Enriquez? Robert Alaniz was the athletic director. Mario Lopez is the assistant athletic director, Anibal Gorena was the principal at Economedes, Ramiro Guerra is the principal at Edinburg North and Mario Salinas is the Assistant Superintendent. Is all this an accident? I think not. That's what happens when you politically support people like Jaime Chavana, Greg Garcia, Robert Pena and Gilbert Enriquez. You bring them votes and they will promote you. You go against them and you will never get ahead. You will be in the same position for the rest of your career. It's no accident that now, reguardless of who you support, if you work hard, you will be supported. Ask Anthony Garza, ask Coach Filoteo, ask Maria Luisa Guerra, ask Hector Gonzalez, ask Felix Hernandez, ask Gloria Rivera, ask Dan Roma, ask Eva Torres, ask Carlos Guzman. These are just a few brigh people who have worked hard for the district for years and always had trouble moving up cause they kept getting bypassed by people who were promised jobs for political favors.

The school board what hoping to get about $58,000,000.00 from the state to help pay for the bond election. The board said it was going to cost the taxpayers 7 cents more on their taxrate. Edinburg News is now complaing about 7 cents. Yes 7 cents. Now they are complaining about how much the taxpayers are getting back from the state:

"Vote on this and the state will pick up 50 percent of the tab. Boy were we wrong. We are going to get 3 and half million dollars a year for the next what 32 years."

So if you do the math, accoring to E-News we are getting $112,000,000.00. Excuse me if I don't get it. They were hoping to get $58,000,000.00 and now they are getting $112,000,000.00 instead? And you're upset about this? Now I know why you are backing Gilbert Enriquez and that other idiot.

And this guy wants to be a school board member?

Delays continue on new Edinburg City Hall
Jared Taylor
May 2, 2008 - 8:02PM
EDINBURG - Construction of the new City Hall building remains behind schedule, with officials blaming the delays on slow delivery of materials needed to complete the project.

City workers were to begin moving into the facility earlier this week, but delayed delivery of limestone and other materials has pushed back the project's anticipated completion to "no more than the next 30 days," City Manager J.J. Rodriguez said.

"Apparently the contractor had some delays by subcontractors and suppliers," he said. "We've been getting real pushy with the contractor, but at this point we don't want to rush him. ... (The City Council would) rather have this construction company build this thing right and not rush them."

Rodriguez said in March that he expected the City Hall building would open by early May. And in December 2006, city leaders had said the first phase of the City Hall project - the new building - would open by the middle of March this year.

Delays also pushed back completion of the $2.25 million in upgrades at the city's police station by several months, but workers at the municipal court and community police division moved in there earlier this week, Rodriguez said.

Enriquez Enterprises of Edinburg has the $7.6 million contract for the City Hall project, the second phase of which entails demolishing the City Hall annex building, extending Kuhn Street one block west and installing a drive-up window for dropping off utility payments.

Gilbert Enriquez, executive vice president of the contracting firm, did not respond to several attempts to reach him for comment Friday.

His firm has until July to finish the both phases of the City Hall project. Rodriguez said it appears unlikely city leaders would grant Enriquez a change order to extend that deadline.

Edinburg officials await City Hall completion

By JACKIE LEATHERMAN/The Monitor
EDINBURG - Nails jut out of the latte-colored walls in City Manager J.J. Rodriguez's office, tucked in the back of City Hall.

Rodriguez took the pictures off of his office walls weeks ago. He has boxes everywhere.

Everyone in Edinburg City Hall has boxes everywhere, he said.

Staff is packed, ready to go - with no place to go.

City officials are growing restless with the continuous delays in their new City Hall's construction.

Rodriguez said they are "getting very, very pushy with the contractor," but the city council has approved two construction deadline extensions.

Enriquez Enterprises was supposed to have had the building ready to occupy in December, according to the original contract approved in April 2006.

Then the council approved an extension in August that pushed the deadline back to February of this year.

It approved an additional extension in May that stamped June 20 as the date the majority of construction should be finished.

Rodriguez uses phrases like "expressed serious concerns" and "somewhat of a little uncomfortable" and "getting really impatient" when he talks about recent conversations he's had with the contractor overseeing the new City Hall's construction just one block away from the current one.

Rodriguez said the contractor is having "a little bit of trouble" with subcontractors over the "decorative end of the process."

Enriquez Enterprises Vice President Gilbert Enriquez said changes to the project have continuously pushed back the final move-in date. He said there are more changes waiting for council approval that would push the date past June 20.

Didn't Enriquez build the Baseball Park in Edinburg too?

I think he also got sued in Pharr for the unfinished Police Station.

What a loser!

What happened to CoKino? How can he, a person who was raised in the Valley, state that he did not know that the individuals who he hired were illegals? I am sure true Valleyites can pick out illegal aliens by just looking at them and be correct 99% of the time, so there is no way I believe CoKino's excuse for hiring cheap labor.
