As the national election nears, I find myself thinking ... who am I going to vote for? True, I didn't care much for Bill Clinton, but I find myself leaning more and more towards Hillary Clinton than any other candidate. Why? Easy, she speaks to me.
Other than that piece of my mind, I will continue to post. Thanks, Anne Toal, for keeping an eye on me. Watch out Edinburg and the rest of South Texas ... Earn is back.

Edinburg News or should I say Eddie Saenz News is more than a bit worried about Pena's anti-corruption stance because they think this is a very BIG problem for them. Sidewalks and highways to nowhere and the like. Pharr and the Delta area are just the tip of the iceberg. Their candidate is deeply tied to those areas.

Looks like we can't escape the Pena-Saenz "debate". I know that it is highly charged for many, but is there really anything new? It seems that other than updates of attacks on E-news (that has linked Pena from everything to the price of gas to global warming) there really is nothing new. While I might like to see a straight blog poll of Pena vs. Saenz, the debate on laundry is really not going anywhere.
I wanted to see what the readers thought about the presidential race. It really seems that the party and the candidates really have written off Texas in the General Election. It seems Clinton is the only one even raising money down here. It could have been any one of them that got the longer term. It just happens to be somebody you don't like. If it were another member, somebody else would complain about a longer term.

1) those that didnt have a county election that was concurrent with their terms of election (ie. dates, faciliteis, ability to man a election process)
2) those districts that dont have municipal elections that were concurrent that districts could run an election.
** THose 2 scenarios are NOT the case here in Edinburg!! They do not have to go to 4 yrs. And they DONT have to move the election date. The federal funds are not only much lower than the state funds, the federal funds are to be used for specific purposes. Your payroll, maintenance and operations ect come from state funding. I don't know where you get your information, but the primary source of funding for most school districts is state funding. Federal funds cover specialty things like Special Education and Migrant Education, and then only on a matching basis.
I am guessing that you are ill-informed and don't read. The ECISD was one of the original defendants in the Edgewood vs. Kirby lawsuit to get the state to pitch in more money for public schools in property tax poor districts. Since then, the funding formula has tipped in the favor of state money being the primary source of funding for school districts, followed by local property taxes and finally federal funding.

I read the most hilarious thing on the Monitor web page. People are giving Aaron credit for the RAHC. Most of the work on the RAHC was done before Aaron's ugly mug arrived at the Legislature. The funding, planning and site selection occurred when Edinburg was represented by Eddie de la Garza and then Juan Hinojosa in the House. Harlingen was represented by Jim Solis. The Valley was represented by Carlos Truan and Eddie Lucio in the Senate.
