Fool me once, shame on you ...

Fool me twice, shame on me. All this time I was harping on the fact that Joe Ochoa and his cronie-style politics bamboozled Edinburg. What I failed to realize is that Edinburg is gullible.
Edinburg likes the "under-the-table" style politics.

Robert Pena Jr. stated, in the May 12, 2007 "Edinburg board president loses seat to newcomer, other incumbent keeps position" article in The Monitor, "[it was a] great theme that we had, the campaign that we had and the result that came from it. [And regarding the recording,] what happened has happened, and at this point I’m most looking forward to serving on the board and moving forward."

Edinburg CISD Trustee - Place 4
Robert Peña 2,844 68%
Melba Gonzalez (I) 1,352 32%

Edinburg CISD Trustee - Place 5
Greg Garcia (I) 2,596 61%
Dr. Martin Castillo 1,149 27%
Cris Treviño 507 12%

First of all ... congratulations to Greg Garcia & Robert Pena Jr. Next, the recap and predictions.

So what happened? Easy ... the early votes & Politiqueras. Coincidentally, the same Politiqueras used by Joe Ochoa were the same ones used by Robert Pena Jr. and Greg Garcia.

So what do we expect? Joe Ochoa has Robert Pena Jr. in the sack. If Robert turns on Joe, Joe will not hold back on Robert's EEDC money embezzlement. So, Joe is one election away from the Edinburg City Council and one election away from controlling the ECISD School Board too. Robert is a man who cannot be trusted and has a lot of skeletons in Joe Ochoa's closet and for that he owe Joe big.

Word to Robert Pena Jr. .... be careful with your deal with Steve ******. I know your campaign promise and I know what you're trying to do. Your deal is already set up and you will be the scape goat .... again.

Note to The Monitor and The Paper of South Texas, do an open records request for the credit cards at the EEDC when Robert Pena was the EEDC director and see the "gifts" he was buying on the taxpayer dime. In that, you will also find how Joe Ochoa covered it up.

Boards and members have come and gone. Heated exchanges and accussations proved fruitfful and fruitless. For whatever, it was worth it is now over so let us work for the childern of this community. For those that did not vote you lost your voice for both sides. You can not complain unless you stood your ground. The list will show who voted and who didnt. Pray your name was on it.

Aye Earn...why don't you request an open record...lets hear it frm you...i bet it is all b.s.

Earn
Your comments are full of rancor. You try to mask your disgust in the voters of Edinburg by your snyde commentary and "research". Why cant you become part of the solution and not just a bystander?? You obvious have above average intelligence but I feel your efforts are without focus. The same voters that voted in these board members are the same ones that voted for Retardo Rodriguez, Terry Palacios, Mary Jane Palacios, and countless other politicos that you hold in high regard. So dont patronize and insult the voters of Edinburg for THEIR CHOICE not being yours. You need to read a self help book on "HOW TO COPE" youll lead a more productive life that way and maybe just maybe your law practice will improve as well.....

Thugs. Just common thugs. It is one thing to convince by argument or issue it is another to pay people to vote through politiqueras. It is a sad day for your city. Thank Jesus for La Joya.

More than that look at E-News and their campaign to try to bring down Gene, first they admit that they are tied to these trash and destroy campaigns, second, their sign illegaly fails to have the identifying disclosure language at the bottom of the page and last they did not report this on an ethics report required by law. Like the guy said - just thugs! Earn, who are the guys running the illegal e-news operation?

Anonymous said...

Why would anybody want to recall Gene. So far he's been the only one on the council that plays an active roll in Edinburg. E-News has this on their blog.

I think Earn is going to be out of a job. He was paid on here to bring down one side of the political divide in Edinburg. And evidently he rants and raves and screams of bloody murder have fallen on death ears. He has manipulated and decieved many people on here. He has used false rhetoric and false accusations to try and prove a lot of his points. He uses his past posts which are purely opinion as his "proof" in his new posts. Earn you are an intelligent person..but this just proves that people aren't as gullable as you seem to try to make them seem.

I think all the council, including the mayor, play active roles in the community.

From an outsider's point of view, it is very sad how the politics of Edinburg is on par...or worse than that of cities like Donna and La Joya.

Anonymous said...

What's really sad to me is that this election is really about academics vs athletics. What's more important to you? Who is teaching your children vs who is coaching them. It looks like this election proved that people are more interested in the welfare of our coaches than our children. Pretty sad considering we only give out a couple of athletics scholorships versus hundreds of academic ones. Look for coaches to continue to be promoted to positions that they are not qualified for. Oh, by the way, rumor has it that the political favors for the elecions will start to pay off. Look for Greg Garcia, Jaime Chavana and Robert Pena to push the district to hire Felix Hernandez as the head coach for the new middle school. It is no secret that Felix Hernandez is VERY, VERY loyal to former athletic director Robert Alaniz. It seems that Mario Lopez has a big hand in hand picking Felix for this job to secure more positions for other coaches who are still loyal to Alaniz including his own son. By the way, for those of you who don't know, I heard this weekend that Alaniz has yet to report to his new position as director of maintenance and operations. It seems that he has decided he doesn't want to show up to work and the taxpayers have to pay for him even though he hasn't been at work. Must be nice to be able to stay home for 3 weeks because you don't feel like going in. It's pretty sad if you ask me. I say if you want to act like a spoiled child who didn't get his way, that is perfectly fine, but don't do it on the taxpayer dollar.

I don't know if anyone saw the "recall gene" poster that is displayed on E-News. On the right corner it states by the "informed citizens of edinburg." Those of you who rememeber who the informed citizens of edinburg is, think back to last year and you will find that an ad placed last year under the informed citizens group was paid for by Gilbert Mercado. This guy can't even recall that he failed out of UT, much less lead the recall of an election. Give me a break.

FOOL ME ONCE SHAME ON ME...FOOL ME TWICE SHAME ON EARN!

Although Earn is a very intelligent person. He has time and again tried to fool the people. Although I somewhat agree on his take on the school board elections, his inaccuracy on many other instances bother me.

Hello Earn,

My two cents on this last election is that the candidate that pays the most to the politiqueras is the candidate that will win. It's all a bunch of bs that it's all about a campaign theme and having the right message. Or that a dumb blog had everything to do with the outcome of the election. Just pay up and you're in. It doesn't matter how stupid you are or how messed up your past is, if you pay up often and early on in the process, you're in.

Anonymous said...

Thanks David I think we understand your priorities.

Anonymous said...

9:30 is right on. The same thing occurred in the La Joya School Board elections. Don't matter how stupid you mess up and how many times you're blasted in the papers for your corruptness. The politiqueras like Irene Garcia of Palmview will make sure you vote the right way.

Anonymous said...

Or Yolanda Nino in Edinburg as well. Oh she received plenty of monetary "gifts" from Greg and Robert. At least that's what she called them. Oh Greg gave me this gift and Robert gave me that gift. Funny thing it was always cash.

Anonymous said...

And what..you don';t think the other side didn't use people like this? This is politics. This has been going on for years. But if the other side would have won, no one would have complained about these people. Both sides play this game. I am nots aying its right. But that is the game of politics.

I would like to take this time to respond to something that E-News wrote while they were "reflecting" on the election:

"Remember when I told you that some school administrators were paranoid. And with paranoid comes mistakes. The biggest mistake of this election was the re assigning of some administrators before the election.

If this was done after the election. We would not have heard the tape recording of Melba. Someone was reading Edinburg News in response of going to the media with the tape right before early vote. It's all about timing. And that was the perfect time to have the most effect"

First and foremost, the people that were moved never had any intention of backing Melba. Their decision to support Robert was made up long ago when they started to support his campaign financially. And please, don't lie to people saying that "Someone was reading Edinburg News in response of going to the media with the tape right before early vote. It's all about timing. And that was the perfect time to have the most effect" While you are right, timing is everything, it wasn't just "somone who was reading e-news." I can tell you right now, Greg Garcia is the one who set up the interview for Mario Lopez at channel 4. Also as people may already know, Robert Pena is the one who requested the information from SPI about Carmen Gonzalez. Guess what guys, I have connections too. And your right, timing is everything. Don't be too suprised when your time comes. Of course, I expect you to do what you do best. Deny that you ever did anything wrong.

Anonymous said...

Oh I agree 9:55, yes the other side used them as well. But the way the "bad guys" in La Joya used them is almost illegal. Those guys would forcefully pick up voters, threaten them (not with force but political retaliation of they worked in the school district) and really did not educate the voters on the issues. At least when we our politiqueras picked up people and took them to vote, they would be told the issues and why it would be appreciated if they voted for our slate. It wasn't just, here is a push card vote for these guys cause I said so! We asked for their help after explaining the situation to them(and not propaganda, but the real stuff. Heck, all you had to do was pick up a paper to see how those guys were destroying the district)and ultimately the voters went in there ALONE and voted for who they felt like.

Anonymous said...

So then you believe that it's ok to pay someone to pick up people to vote for you as they look over their shoulder at the curbside vote to make sure they picked "the right people," pay them per head, and then pay that person a bonus at the end, all to pick up votes? I don't know about you, but that sound like your buying votes to me. Of course, again, you don't see anything wrong with that. But let me ask you, if you don't see anything wrong with that, why didn't Greg and Robert put Yolanda Nino in their campaign finance report? I mean if they did nothing wrong, why then didn't they report what they paid her for her "services." I guess when you call them things like Christmas gifts and gas allowences which come out to over $2500, it really doesn't come out as a campaign expense. Again, you can dance around it all day, but eventually, you can only break the law so many times before the law breaks you.

Hello, Earn,

I'm curious. If there was indeed "embezzlement," by Robert Peña when he was EEDC executive director, and the EEDC has to undergo an annual audit, how come nothing came out of it?

As I recall, the Edinburg Daily Review was still an active, muck-racking newspaper at the time Robert was in charge of the EEDC. I'm sure they would have heard rumors, and investigated.

Unless, of course, they were part of a cover-up in collusion with Joe Ochoa and Robert Peña. Okay, then why didn't the Monitor pounce on that "embezzlement" as well? Ochoa and Peña had them of their payroll, too?

I'm not saying you are wrong; I don't know. But I do know there were never any audits of the EEDC, which are required by state law, that showed questionable purchases.

Ochoa was in charge of the EEDC at the time; why didn't Richard Garcia hit him with this during his campaign against Ochoa? I mean, they threw the kitchen sink at Ochoa last year.

I look forward to seeing any kind of valid documentation you can produce on the "embezzlement." If I want to read about rumors, I can always pick up the Monitor. I know you can do better than that!

Keep up your good work.

Earn My Vote said...

David,

Yes, there was an embezzlement. I challenge you to dig up the information. In fact, there is one man who does have all the information and dirt on Joe and Robert, but he will remain anonymous.

Second, in case you forgot, and by your comment you either forgot or are trying to rewrite history, it was Joe who was smearing Richard. Richard took the high road, as always.

But as for now, I will get you what you need. :)

Hopefully, one day, you and the rest of the Citizens of Edinburg will say .... Earn was right.

11:30...I don't know anything about them Edinburg fellows you are referring to, but I wasn't referring to curbside voting either. But in the case of curbside voting, are the politiqueras allowed to "vote for you as they look over their shoulder at the curbside vote to make sure they picked 'the right people?'"

Anonymous said...

Yes.

Anonymous said...

Only if you vote for PRI south of the border.

Anonymous said...

Has anyone filed the open records request for Robert Pena? My aunt told me that it is true that Pena was fired from EEDC.

Anonymous said...

Castillo,

Your aunts tell you everything.

Anonymous said...

Are you talking about Isaura Cisneros?

Anonymous said...

Does it matter who told who? The fact is that it is true and Edinburg News or anyone else has never denied that Robert was infact fired from the EEDC. And if anyone would know for sure, it would be someone close to Ochoa.

Anonymous said...

Someone should speak to one of the girls that worked at EEDC with Robert. She has a lot of info. I will not name her but Robert should know who he tried to have sex with on the desk.

Anonymous said...

Careful with the ladies and even girls of the ECISD. Robert may try and force you to have sex with him.

Maybe he will knock up Cynthia G. Lucio. Both are thieves and make a perfect match.
